Fully Integrated Port

At Tosyalı Algérie, our production process starts when the iron ore we supply arrives at our BPM port, which is fully integrated with our production complex. By investing in the entire superstructure of this state-owned port in the Arzew/Sonatrac region of Algeria, we have provided the world steel industry with an alternative logistics centre at a time when alternative ports and transit routes are becoming more and more strategic.

Our port, which also contributes to the strengthening of Algeria's strategic position, is the largest port in the country where ships of 200,000 DWT can approach. Our port has an annual cargo unloading capacity of 12 million tonnes. Before this investment we made as Tosyalı Algerie, the highest tonnage of ships coming to Algerian ports was 50,000 DWT, but now the capacity has increased 4 times. As Tosyalı Algerie, we have become one of the most strategic facilities of the region in the iron and steel sector with our fully integrated port, where ships of 200 thousand tonnes can dock, in maritime transport where ships exceeding certain limits on different transit routes have to travel long distances.

Thanks to the 12 km pipe-type closed conveyor belt system, one of the longest lines in Europe, we are able to transport 4,000 tonnes of iron ore per hour from the port to the raw material area of our complex without using any vehicles. Thus, we ship iron ore from our own port to our fully integrated Tosyalı Algérie production complex, process it, turn it into final products and meet Algeria's iron and steel needs, contributing to national economy.
